 The Ray Key Vacuum Chuck is the latest in a range of innovative new products developed by the Air Press Company to utilise vacuum technology in the workplace.

To achieve the kind of quality product normally associated with the Air Press Company we asked internationally acclaimed wood turner, writer and raconteur, Ray Key, to add his wealth of experience to the development of this superb range. The result is a safe, easy to use and versatile system that allows screwless chucking on bowls, platters, spheres etc.

Safety and performance is enhanced by the easy fit moulded rubber gasket and integral "0" ring, ensuring airtight seals for maximum holding power.

• The Ray Key Vacuum Chuck System can be used on all lathes having a hollow spindle.


The system consists of 3 elements:

1 The Vacuum Chuck, available in 3 sizes. The chucks are designed to fit any size spindle thread with the addition of the Axminster Power Tool Centre “Thread Insert” (for thread sizes up to 1 inch) or the APTC “Boss” (for thread sizes over 1 inch).

2 The Rotary Adaptor for attaching the vacuum pump hose to the lathe. Fitted with vacuum gauge and lever valve. These

adaptors are also universal and fit using the APTC Boss or Thread Insert. Select one of two adaptors to fit your lathe.

3 A vacuum pump and hose. This should have a flow rate of at least 8m³/hr and be capable of running continuously against a dead end. The quiet,

THE ROTARY ADAPTOR

• ROTARY ADAPTOR (RA1), for solid or hollow spindles.* Attaches directly to VacChuck. No need for extra boss (thread adaptor).

    • Can be used on solid spindles or lathes which have no access to spindle
